Join us Thursdays from 7 – 8:30 PM for our online Zoom Basic Cruising theory classes.

Are you interested in learning how to sail?   These free online classes are perfect for anyone wishing to get a head start on their Basic Cruising learning or our registered students who are looking to reinforce the theory skills learned while out on the water.

Topics covered include:

  • Sailing terms and definitions
  • Sailing gear and equipment
  • Sailing safety
  • Understanding the wind and how to use the wind to sail
  • Sailing & boating rules of the road and regulations
  • Weather considerations when boating
  • Duties of the skipper and crew
  • Sailing seamanship skills

This course will help you prepare to write the Sail Canada Basic Cruising written (ashore) exam (See the Basic Cruising Standard here)

These classes will be divided into Part 1 and Part 2 which will be taught on alternating weeks. You can attend these classes in any order.
