Our easy to follow online coastal navigation course is perfect for the novice and veteran boater. The course is taught over 25 short lessons which you can work through at your own pace. Instructor support is just an email away.
You will have the opportunity to apply the theory with many practical exercises that show you how to determine your position on a nautical chart and how to safely reach your intended destination. You will also learn how to take drift and leeway into account and how to use tide and current tables.

As with our classroom course, the online edition fully prepares you for writing the Sail Canada exam and achieving the Sail Canada Basic Coastal Navigation Standard.

*When a couple registers, the first person will pay the full price of $200 + HST and the partner will pay $120 + HST. A partner is a spouse, common-law partner or child of the person paying the full registration fee. A partner must register at the same time, live at the same street address and have access to the same email address as the person paying the full registration fee. Learning materials will be shared.

OBJECTIVE: To be able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing cruiser in coastal or inland waters. The concepts are practically introduced in the Intermediate standard and practically tested in the Advanced standard. The standard is recommended to be completed prior to the Intermediate standard.
CERTIFICATION AWARDED: Sail Canada Basic Coastal Navigation Standard.
