CANSail 1 & 2

The basic course for small boat sailors. On the water training is emphasized with applicable theory covered in short class sessions. With an experienced Sail Canada instructor as your coach, you will be taught the skills and knowledge required to safely sail a dinghy in moderate wind and sea conditions.

PREREQUISITE: None

OPTIONS:  Minimum of 28 hours of instruction.
Evenings:  Monday-Thursday, 5:30 – 9:00 PM for two consecutive weeks
Weekends: First Friday, 6- 9 PM & Saturday & Sunday 9 AM – 5 PM for two consecutive weekends.

FEE: $460.00 + HST (includes CANSail learning materials & option to write PCOC test & introductory membership at the Nepean Sailing Club if you’ve not previously been a club member)

OBJECTIVE: On completion of CANSail 1 the sailor will start to understand the basics of sailing a dinghy and will be able to sail in light wind with the  support of a coach boat nearby.  Upon completion of CANSail 2 the sailor will be able to sail with confidence, competently in wind speeds of 4-9 knots (8-16 km/hr) and perform the required skills proficiently without supervision.
