START KEELBOAT SAILING
OBJECTIVE: In this 2-day Sail Canada course you will be introduced to the language of sailing. In a relaxed environment, we will show you the principles of how a sailboat moves through the water using the wind. You will learn about basic seamanship skills, boat handling under sail and power, boat safety equipment & how to tie some popular sailing knots. By the end of this course, you will be able to act as crew to safely sail in familiar waters on a small keelboat sailboat similar to the one in this picture.

COURSE OPTIONS:
- 14-hours
- Maximum of 4 students per boat
- Courses taught aboard our 22 – 24 foot keelboats: Tanzer, Sonar, or Shark
- 3 students required for the course to run

Which One is Right for You?

Start Keelboat Sailing: Ideal for those who want to learn basic sailing on a smaller boat in a short time (14 hours).

Basic Cruising: A more comprehensive (28-hour) course for those wishing to learn how to ‘skipper’ or helm a sailboat. This is course is also an excellent stepping stone for those planning to sail keelboats, have their own keelboat, charter or cruise.
