Refresher / Mileage Builder Courses

Brush up on your skills and get back on the water with confidence! Whether you are looking to review basic cruising skills or just want an instructor-led course to gain additional on-the-water experience, our “Refresher / Mileage Builder” courses will fit your needs. These classes may be customized such that each student on board can focus on those skills they wish to develop. Practice your points of sail, tacking & gybing, boat handling manoeuvres, docking, anchoring, crew overboard, sail trim, larger boat handling and more!

 

OPTIONS:

Small Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Buider Course (Ottawa):  Are your sailing skills a little rusty? Perhaps you have just finished a Basic Cruising course but still need some additional time with an instructor to feel more confident. This 1-day on the-water-course will allow you to quickly fill in the knowledge gaps and give you the chance to practice a number of keelboat basic cruising skills.

• 1-day (9 AM – 5 PM)
• Taught on our T22, Shark or Sonar keelboats that have a tiller and outboard motor
• Small class size – maximum of 4 students (minimum of 3)

Big Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Builder Course (Ottawa):  Perfect for sailors who want to gain further sailing experience or transfer their small keelboat skills to a larger keelboat.  Also a great stepping stone towards boat ownership or obtaining more time on the water as skipper in preparation for taking the Intermediate Learn-to-Cruise (bareboat) course. Have fun sailing with an experienced sailor while improving your boating handling skills, with an emphasis on safety, navigation, seamanship and docking.

• 1-day (9 AM – 5 PM)
• Taught on our C&C 27 that has wheel steering and an inboard diesel engine
• Small class size – maximum of 4 students (minimum of 3)

Big Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Builder Course (Kingston Live-Aboard course):  Are you having fun sailing in Ottawa but are ready to take your adventures to the next level? Consider sailing with us in Kingston on a 2 day/2 night Mileage Builder. This course is taught on board a beautiful and comfortable 35′ sailboat. Island hop the 1000 islands or get a taste of bigger water sailing on Lake Ontario.

• 2 day/2 night Live aboard course – you will be sleeping on the boat anchored out at night.
• Taught on our CS30 that has wheel steering and an inboard diesel engine
• Small class size – maximum of 4 students (minimum of 3)

PREREQUISITE: Sail Canada Basic Cruising (Skipper or Crew) Standard , CANSail 2 or the equivalent experience.

FEE:

• Small Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Builder (Ottawa)  – $265 + HST per person (min 3 people)
• Big boat Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Builder (Ottawa) – $315 + HST per person (min 3 people)
• Big boat Keelboat Refresher/Mileage Builder (Kingston) – $1250 + HST per person (min 3 people)
