Cruising on the Ottawa River

Cruising on the Ottawa River

Welcome to the wonderful world of boating!

The wonderful thing about sailing & power boating is that it offers something for everyone. Fun, relaxing, rewarding, challenging, and adventurous are some of the words used by past students and fellow sailors to describe this enjoyable pastime.

Boating for pleasure is more than a sport, it’s a lifestyle. Join “the crew” to see why so many find it to be one of life’s most rewarding experiences. Come aboard and discover for yourself how enjoyable and easy it is to experience this adventure.

Advantage Boating offers a variety of programs for both the novice and experienced boater alike. Adults and families can choose from any number of fun and exciting courses and services.

Sailing For Life Pathways

Keelboat Sailing:
If you would like to learn how to sail on larger more comfortable boats, we recommend that you start with the Sail Canada Basic Cruising course which is part of the Sail Canada Learn to Cruise program.

Dinghy Sailing:
If learning to sail on smaller boats interests you and you don’t mind getting a bit wet, we suggest you begin by taking a Sail Canada CANSail course. See the full Sail Canada Learn to Sail program.

Power Boating:
Become an educated boater and enrol in our hands-on power boating course.

Classroom Courses:
We offer a variety of classroom courses with some leading to certification including coastal navigation, celestial navigation, VHF radio operation, sailboat racing, and engine maintenance – outboard and diesel engines.

“I would like to thank Ron, Doris and the amazing Advantage Boating team for introducing me to the world of sailing. The well designed basic cruising course followed by the sail share plan allowed me to gain solid afloat skills in no time. Through sail share I met wonderful people ,  who also got hooked to the power of the wind like me. I would definitely recommend other people to register for this life changing experience with AB.”
